Ex-NFL Player Dies Unexpectedly at 63
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Keith Browner Sr. has died. He was 63.
Browner Sr.'s Son Confirmed His Unexpeted Death
Browner Sr.’s son, Keith Browner Jr., confirmed the tragic news to TMZ Sports. Browner Sr. died at his home in San Leandro, CA, after suffering what is believed at this time to be a heart attack. An official cause of death has not been confirmed. The family said that the former linebacker’s passing was unexpected.
Browner Jr. told the outlet that he spoke to his father on Monday night, at which point he was suffering from symptoms such as vomiting and fatigue. Browner Sr. made plans to see a doctor on Tuesday morning, but his son explained that when he collapsed before he could leave the house.
Browner Sr. Played for USC Before Being Drafted
Browner Sr. began his career in the early 1980s playing defense for the University of Southern California before being drafted by the Buccaneers as the 30th overall pick in the 1984 NFL draft. He stayed in the NFL for five seasons, eventually leaving the Buccaneers and playing with the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, and San Diego Chargers. Browner Jr. also played college football at USC, serving as a defensive end just like his father. Browner Jr. was also drafted by the NFL, playing for four years with the Houston Texans and the Chicago Bears.
Browner Sr. is survived by his children—Keith Jr. and daughters Keicha, Amber, Ashley, and Jordan.
