Exclusive: Watch the Trailer for 'Bull Run,' the Next Crazy Wall Street Comedy

0 1

For a profession that mostly involves moving a bunch of numbers around on a screen, the world of high finance makes for some great, exciting movies. Bull Run, an upcoming Wall Street comedy, looks to be the latest entry in a subgenre whose ranks include Wolf of Wall Street and The Big Short. Men's Journal is excited to exclusively premiere the trailer for the film, which comes out in theaters and as video on demand on November 14.

Bull Run, based on former investment banker Bill Keenan's 2020 memoir Discussion Materials: Tales of a Rookie Wall Street Investment Banker, stars Tom Blyth (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) as Bobby Sanders, a former pro-hockey player who becomes a junior level banker when his career on the ice comes to an end. He quickly realizes that the world of Wall Street is as madcap and cutthroat as anything he experienced in hockey — perhaps even more so.

"In the wilds of Wall Street, one junior banker discovers that the only thing more dangerous than billion-dollar deals are the men signing them," the official tagline reads.

Trailer Promises Madcap Finance Thrills

Based on the new trailer, Bull Run seems to have a Wolf of Wall Street-meets-Entourage energy, which makes sense since Doug Ellin, creator of the hit HBO series, is a producer on the new film. (There's also some fourth-wall-breaking as Blyth's protagonist directly addresses the camera in a way that might be reminiscent of The Big Short.) Bull Run is director Alfredo Barrios Jr.'s debut feature.

Chris Diamantopoulos, one of the stars of Silicon Valley and the criminally under-watched series Mrs. Davis, plays Bobby's horrible boss. Jay Mohr (Jerry Maguire) also stars, along with Zach Villa (American Horror Story), Jordyn Denning (Pam & Tommy), Ashwin Gore (Shameless), Helena Mattson (Seven Psychopaths), Trevor Gretzky (Loudermilk), Troy Garity (Ballers), Sam Daly (The Office) and Alyshia Ochse (True Detective).

Keenan, the man behind the book Bull Run is based on, went viral in some finance circles for his sassy resignation letter back in 2018.

Bull Run hits select theaters and VOD on November 14.
