Keanu Reeves’ 'Cyberpunk' Movie Comments Spark a Viral Reaction From the Creator
Keanu Reeves' candid admission regarding his interest in returning as Johnny Silverhand in the Cyberpunk universe drew plenty of fan intrigue. However, the online frenzy hit new heights when the film's creator, Mike Pondsmith, fired off a public reply on the topic, leaving fans speculating about what could happen next.
Reeves' initial comments were made less than two months ago, when IGN asked about his interest in returning to the role, one he voiced in the popular video game Cyberpunk 2077. As exciting as his initial response was, it was Pondsmith's reaction to the idea that ramped up excitement.
Keanu Reeves' 'Cyberpunk' Wish Sets Social Media Alight
Keanu's comments about revisiting his iconic Cyberpunk role sparked some fun "what if" questions. But without much more to go on or information about the Cyberpunk2077 movie, it was hard to get overly excited.
“Absolutely. I’d love to play Johnny Silverhand again," Reeves told IGN.
While that comment didn't result in much immediately, the wheels might actually be turning on the potential for Reeves to bring Johnny Silverhand's voice to the big screen. Fans have been calling for a movie adaptation of the game, which was highlighted in a popular Reddit thread asking why it hasn't happened yet.
'Cyberpunk' Creator's Viral Response Fuels Fan Theories
If there were ever a way to add fuel to the fire, the Cyberpunk creator did just that by jumping into the conversation. As Culture Crave highlighted, he specifically mentioned Reeves and had a one-sentence response that'll leave fans feeling giddy.
"I have ways to do that, Keanu, contact me," Pondsmith reportedly said.
Call it an open invitation if you'd like, but regardless, it. certainly surprised fans. Assuming Reeves' interest in taking his in-game character to the big screen is legitimate, it sounds as though Pondsmith is fully on board to have him on the Cyberpunk ride as Johnny Silverhand.
