Keanu Reeves' New Movie 'Shiver' With 'Deadpool' Director Has Fans Saying the Same Thing
Keanu Reeves is poised to return to sci-fi and action following the latest news about his future movie Shiver. Reeves is slated to team up with Tim Miller, who directed the first Deadpool film, as Warner Bros. is currently in final negotiations to acquire the film, which The Hollywood Reporter first revealed. While Reeves and Miller teaming up on Shiver provides plenty of appeal, it's the movie's background that sparked quick, excited reactions from fans, and it's easy to understand why.
After appearing in his latest movie, the comedy Good Fortune, directed by Aziz Ansari, the John Wick star is tabbed for a movie described by THR as having shades of Edge of Tomorrow and The Shallows.

Although the process is still in the very early stages, some details have been revealed about Shiver, a script written by Ian Shorr. According to the initial report, the film will feature Reeves as a smuggler who is double-crossed during a job in the Caribbean Sea.
Reeves' character is stuck in a time loop and is left to fend off a broad range of dangers, including sharks. Here's a look at THR's breakdown of the plot:
"Smuggler who finds himself in the middle of a deadly double-cross while on a job in the Caribbean Sea, resulting in him surrounded by bodies, hostile mercenaries and thirsty sharks alike. He next finds himself [in] a deathly time loop and scrambling to break the cycle," THR wrote.
While fans got to see Reeves return to the John Wick world in the recently released spin-off Ballerina, there's no doubt that the idea of seeing him take on sharks and whatever else comes his way in Shiver should be a treat.
Fans Love the Idea of Keanu Reeves Taking on Sharks in 'Shiver'
There's plenty of appeal to the early reports of Reeves' latest role, but not surprisingly, fans couldn't get enough of seeing him go head-to-head with a shark. While that aspect of the plot certainly jumps off the page, the fan reactions ranged from a few John Wick jokes to sheer excitement over the endless possibilities of how it could come together on the big screen.
"The sharks ate his dog. That’s all you’ll need to know," joked one fan.
"This man really said ‘put me in Inception, Jaws, and John Wick all at once,'" added another.
"Keanu Reeves, time loops, and sharks? That’s not a movie, that’s a spiritual sequel to chaos," read another response.
"So uh… John Wick with sharks? W," said one fan.
Others were bought in on the off-the-wall combination of Reeves having to deal with both a time loop and sharks, among other things, at the same time.
"A time loop AND deadly sharks? How's Keanu gonna get out of this one?" read one reply.
"Keanu, time loops, and sharks? I’m in!" read another reply.
While the thoughts of John Wick fighting sharks in the midst of a time loop run wild through the heads of fans, we may have to hold off on building the anticipation too quickly. There's no official timeline for anything related to the movie just yet, and as previously stated, Warner Bros. is still finishing the deal to acquire its rights. Regardless, Shiver should offer plenty of intrigue when casting begins to ramp up, but it'll likely be a while until fans hear anything about filming or a potential release date.
