Kirk Herbstreit was in full "Defend Bill Belichick at all costs" mode while discussing the legendary coach's short but troubled tenure at UNC in the early hours of Saturday on ESPN's College GameDay.
Apparently, Belichick was up bright and early watching the show live from Eugene, Oregon, ahead of No. 3 Oregon hosting No. 7 Indiana, and wanted to chime in. As the phone was ringing, the popular panelist and ESPN's lead college football analyst couldn't help but chuckle.
During the segment, Herbstreit was adamant that Belichick has fully bought into the program. Never mind that the Tar Heels are 2-3 this season, and that UNC has lost those three games by a combined 25 points.

"I think the most important thing is to understand," said Herbstreit, while showing Nick Saban and Pat McAfee his phone, "that he is completely bought into what's happening with this team and with this program. And him leaving or the idea of him leaving ..."
At this point, Herbstreit chuckles before McAfee interjects.
Answer that phone ????????

"Answer that," McAfee says, to which Herbstreit responds by chuckling some more and insisting he can't answer.
"Answer that! He has to be watching right now," McAfee implores Herbstreit. "That's literally Bill Belichick calling Kirk Herbstreit. He probably has something to say."
"Yeah. He probably does," Herbstreit responded.
