Travis Kelce Breaks His Silence on Taylor Swift Song 'Wood'

0 2

Last week, global pop sensation Taylor Swift officially released her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, which quickly smashed global streaming records, becoming the most popular album on the planet.

While the album features several apparent references to her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, one particular song has caught the attention of fans for referencing some rather personal details about her fiancé. Now, Kelce is breaking his silence on the song.

Past Songs Written About Travis Kelce

Swift's latest album is not the only album to reference her relationship with the NFL superstar. Last year, Swift released her album The Tortured Poets Department, which featured two songs apparently written about her relationship with Kelce.

One song titled "The Alchemy" made several football references, as it seems to tell a story of her relationship with Kelce.

"Shirts off, and your friends lift you up over their heads/Beer sticking to the floor/Cheers chanted, cause they said/There was no chance, trying to be/The greatest in the league/Where's the trophy?/He just comes running over to me," Swift writes in the song.

Another song, titled "So High School," compares their relationship to that of high school sweethearts and features the lyric "You know how to ball, I know Aristotle."

What Does 'Wood' Say About Travis Kelce?

While Swift has written about Kelce before, the song "Wood" uses some clever wordplay to discuss a rather intimate part of their relationship, while discussing a rather intimate part of Kelce's anatomy.

"Redwood tree, it ain't hard to see. His love was the key that opened my thighs," Swift sings in the song.

Obviously, it's not hard to decipher what Swift is talking about, and that's certainly not the only time in the song she made such references.

"Girls, I don't need to catch the bouquet to know a hard rock is on the way," she sings in the very next line.

She also sings about how Kelce's "magic wand" broke a curse on her, and referenced his "New heights of manhood," which is a clever namedrop of his popular New Heights podcast.

Kelce Breaks His Silence

During the latest edition of the New Heights podcast, Travis and his brother Jason spoke a little bit about Swift's new album, and Jason could not help but ask his brother about his thoughts on the song.

"How do you feel about 'Wood'?" Jason asked his brother.

"It's a great song," Travis responded.

"Did you feel ... cocky about the song 'Wood'?" Jason followed up.

Travis tried to say that he appreciates any song in which she references him, but Jason quickly clarified that this is not just any song, like the previous songs that reference their relationship.

"That's not just any song. This is a very specific you," Jason said. "It's not just you, though. It's an appendage. It's not just you, it's a very specific thing."

This led Travis to feign ignorance a little bit.

"I think you're just not understanding the song," Travis told his brother.

Jason didn't let him off the hook, though, as he read him some of the lyrics to the song, eliciting some laughs from his brother.

"That song's great, though," Jason concluded, shifting the uncomfortable conversation. "The beat to that song is fantastic. That's right up my alley. So, well done."
