Virginia Woman Asked ChatGPT to Pick Her Lottery Numbers. She Won Big
Carrie Edwards -- a resident of Midlothan, Virginia -- won big after turning to AI for help.
Edwards matched four of the five numbers, plus the Powerball, in the September 8 Virginia Lottery.
"I’m like, ChatGPT, talk to me… Do you have numbers for me?" she recalled during a press conference following her big win. She explained that she was sitting in a meeting when she got a notification to "collect [her] lottery winnings."
"I thought, 'I know I didn’t win,'" she continued. "As soon as that divine windfall happened and came down upon my shoulders, I knew exactly what I needed to do with it."
Edwards won $50,000, but because she opted to pay the extra $1 for the Power Play, her earnings tripled to $150,000.
"I knew I needed to give it all away, because I’ve been so blessed, and I want this to be an example of how other people, when they’re blessed, can bless other people," she said.
She has vowed to split her earnings between three charity organizations: Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, Shalom Farms, and Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
"Because it’s a windfall I didn’t expect, and it’s certainly going to help those in need," she said.
