CJ Stroud Gives 4-Word Response After Comments About ‘Getting Old’ Go Viral

0 4

Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud had to clarify comments made ahead of Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens about his "old" age.

"I feel like I'm getting old," Stroud, 24, said while speaking to the media on Friday, October 3, his 24th birthday. "I'm not as quick as I used to be. I was watching my high school stuff a couple days ago, I was like 180 [pounds] and I was rolling. But not no more."

After Stroud and the Texans defeated the Ravens 44 - 10, the star quarterback was asked to explain his comments.

"I was literally joking," he said.

He added, "Everybody takes everything out of context nowadays. It's all good."

"I feel great, man," Stroud continued. "I think my strength staff has done a great job with not only just me, but out team. Yeah, I was literally just playing."

After three seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes, Stroud was selected by the Houston Texans with the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. In January 2024, he became the youngest starting quarterback to win a playoff game at 22 years, 3 months and 10 days.

The Texans are currently 2 - 3 after week 5. They are set to take on the Seattle Seahawks on October 20, following a week 6 bye.
