Star College Football QB Addresses Breakup With Influencer Hanna Cavinder

University of Miami quarterback Carson Beck is enjoying a resurgent season on the field after a few trying months off of it.

Beck, who had a disappointing 2024 campaign at Georgia, was injured in the SEC Championship Game last December, resulting in season-ending surgery. Then, after transferring to Miami in the offseason, Beck had two cars stolen from his residence.

Finally, and perhaps most notably, his relationship with former University of Miami basketball player and social media influencer Hanna Cavinder ended, leading to public accusations of cheating from Cavinder's side.

For the first time publicly, Beck addressed his breakup in a new wide-ranging interview with ESPN, calling the experience "difficult."

"You make mistakes as a person, but it sucks that you have to go through something like that with someone that you care about, and now it's all over the Internet," Beck said. "Half of what you see in the media is true. Half of what you see is not true. So, people pick their side of the story and run with it. The people that know the truth know the truth. But it's been difficult."

Beck, Cavinder seemingly split back in March

Whispers of the two high-profile athletes no longer being together began in March and exploded when Haley Cavinder, Hanna's twin and former University of Miami teammate, posted a TikTok video alluding to the breakup and insinuating that Beck was to blame.

“I just want to say one thing because I can’t be too crazy unfiltered on here,” said Haley, who is engaged to Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson. “If your sister comes to you – or your friend or someone that’s really important in your life – and they have a gut feeling about a relationship or a friendship, for example – and they just tell you that on a repeated basis, trust your dang sister. Trust her. She’s always right. I promise you. Or your mom. They’re always right. Anyways, happy Thursday.”

The following month, the Cavinder twins were caught on camera bashing Beck in a video shared by Kai Trump, President Donald Trump's granddaughter.

In the clip, Hanna says she broke up with Beck "not because he was cheating, I broke up with him because of who he was." 

"Never cheat on my twin," Haley added. “I went up to him, I said, ‘Stay off that Snapchat, boy.'"

Beck bouncing back

Whatever led to the end of his relationship with Cavinder, Beck has looked clear-headed and confident in his first four games with the Hurricanes this fall.

Beck has connected on 82-of-112 passes for 972 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions as Miami, ranked No. 2 in the country, has gotten off to a 4-0 start that includes wins over Notre Dame, South Florida and the University of Florida.
