Dinosaur Theme Park Closing, and You Could Own One of Its Life-Sized Creatures

Residents of New Jersey can bring the world of Jurassic Park right to their own backyards — if they've got a big enough truck. Field Station: Dinosaurs, a theme park dedicated to the ancient reptiles, is closing down and selling off all of its unique assets.

The park, located in Leonia, New Jersey, has recently listed some of its 30 life-size dinosaur figures on Facebook Marketplace as it prepares to permanently close after the autumn season. The animatronic figures range from $700 to $2,860 each.

Fans can snatch up a Pterodactyls Quetzalcoatlus with a 19.68' wingspan and built-in speaker for $850. The Velociraptor is a steal at $700, made of rubber and feathers for that authentic dinosaur look. The most expensive of the bunch, the vegetarian Apatosaurus, is on sale for $2,860.

If you don't have almost $3,000 to spend on a dinosaur, Field Station encourages its previous park patrons to submit their best offer for each sculpture. Most also come with a control box to make the animatronics work.

Field Station: Dinosaurs has a number of special events leading up to its ultimate closure, including the upcoming 'A Haunted and Hilarious Dinosaur Halloween' slated for every weekend in October. The park is expected to close to the public on November 9, meaning interested parties will not be able to pick up their new electronic pets until then.

Buying the Dinos Will Take Some Work

All buyers are expected to deinstall and collect their dinosaurs themselves at the park. Field Station: Dinosaurs is currently promoting what it is calling its "final fall season," open from 10am - 5pm on weekends. The Field Station: Dinosaurs location in Derby, Kansas, is expected to remain open.
