This Nonalcoholic Wine Was Crafted by a Renowned Napa Valley Winemaker—And It May Just Be Your New Favorite Way to End the Day
The market for nonalcoholic beer, wine and spirits has significantly taken off in the last few years. Whether it’s a celebration of Dry January or Sober October, a general desire to consume less or abstain completely from alcoholic beverages or an interest in adding a unique flavor profile into your beverage repertoire that doesn’t involve alcohol, we are glad there are options for everyone.
Aaron Pott, Napa Valley winemaker, wine consultant and co-founder of Missing Thorn, in partnership with co-founder Stephanie Honig, wine educator and innovator, created a line of alcohol-removed wine to allow people to enjoy the complex, rich flavor of wine without the alcohol. His mission and vision is for connoisseurs to “enjoy each moment fully, empowered to experience life with clarity and vitality”. And they feelMissing Thorn does just that.
Missing Thorn is Crafting a Line of Alcohol-Removed Wine
Pott has perfected his method of crafting wines using the season’s best varietals to create the wine lineup, then uses a technique to remove the alcohol. In doing so, they’ve created five wines - red, white, rosé, and a white sparkling and rosé sparkling. Next season the lineup may change depending on the varietals “that best express balance, aroma, and character without alcohol”, according to the maker.
What Are Fans Saying?
Fans seem to be enjoying the alcohol-removed wine. “Popped this bottle out for a winding down movie night at home. Liked that it was not super sweet. I think it tastes better when served chilled from the fridge. Great for the craving without the obvious alcohol effects”, said one person regarding the Sparkling White.
“Buttery with a slight vinegar (ie apple cider vinegar) note this red is a lighter feeling red that paired nicely with our pasta dinner. If I was trying to avoid alcohol this would be a fantastic replacement”, stated another about the red.
“A true Rosé experience with a flavor profile similar to a bright, natural wine - definitely fruit-forward, with notes of tart fruits like pomegranate and cranberry, and a hint of lemon”, exclaimed another fan.
Missing Thorn wine can be purchased on their website with free shipping. Their bottles of white and rosé retail for $24.99, while the red and sparkling varieties retail for $29.99. It can also be purchased on Amazon and at Wegman’s, as well as some local wine stores.
