SALT KAYAK FESTIVAL 2021
The Salt Kayak Festival does its lengthy awaited comeback this 2021. After a year of hiatus the well known event, taking place in Catalonia is back and kicking with its usual chill vibe and quality kayaking program that brings together the best of whitewater. With Covid-19 still lurking around we will not be able to offer you the usual accommodation in our guesthouse but we have prepared a camping area right next to the sports center that will cover all your needs. Besides this little annoyance expect the show to be as good as always!
Things will kick off with the Freestyle Friday Clinics led by our international guests; Harry Price, Ottilie Robinson-Shaw, Bartosz Czauderna, Michal Sobieraj-Jakubiec and Tom Dierick. We will then have night training under the floodlights and a burnt rhum party by the river – courtesy of the Salt-ter Club.
On Saturday the main courses start with the EXO Kayak Cross in the Pilastra Whitewater Park. This year we will delight you with our new partners of « The Black Flag » a local brewery that will be providing locally crafted beer at a competitive price in our bar – check it out. Things will continue with the mini-me freestyle comp for paddlers under 14. In the afternoon the infamous Kokatat International Freestyle Open will put the venue on fire as some of the best Freestylers in Europe fight in a knock out format until only one is left standing. In the evening we’ll have a nice dinner together as we do all the prize giving and we raffle away some gear.
On Sunday the king is riverrunning. We’ll head off to the Ter Gorge just 20 minutes away from Pilastra Whitewater Park and paddle one of the best drop&pool sections to be found in Spain. A good class III-IV stretch that is great no matter your ability level. A lot of fun is going to be had by all; seal launch from the flood release tube, beater in the Roofs rapid, disappear in a squirt mystery move fashion on the Viper… there really is something for everyone here. And finally, to wrap up the weekend, we will be raffling an EXO REXY a Jamón Serrano and some more kayaking gear amongst the participants.
