Support canoeists/kayakers wanted - Beaumaris to Bangor charity swim - 7th Sept 2019

0 8
Hi all

Not sure if this would be of interest to anyone based in North Wales. (If it's in the wrong place, or not allowed, please feel free to move or delete!)

Some supporters of the charity I work for are organising a Pier to Pier swim (Beaumaris to Bangor) on September 7th to raise money for #TeamIrfon, which raises funds to support projects in North Wales' hospitals (mainly Ysbyty Gwynedd, but in Glan Clwyd, Wrexham Maelor and communities as well) that help individuals and families affected by cancer to maintain good mental health and emotional wellbeing.

They are looking for support kayaks / canoes to accompany the swimmers. There is no fundraising commitment for support canoeists / kayakers and it's free to take part. There will be some kind of afterparty in Bangor following the swim but details still TBC on that. Ts & Cs, further details and the registration form can be found on the website: https://awyrlas.org.uk/tiswim.

(Also if you happen to be an open water swimmer as well as a paddler, or you know anyone that is, feel free to pass on the info to them - there are still some swim places available. Again, it's free to take part but the organisers have set a suggested fundraising amount of £50 per swimmer.)

Thank you :) SMopencanoe

Emma

Edited to say: Of course, with the location of the swim, paddlers should be confident in open tidal water and have previous experience of this type of trip - it's all in the Ts & Cs but just thought I should make it clear here :-)
