Trouble with Oars

I recently outfitted a Trib 16HD with an NRS longhorn frame and Carlisle 10ft oars. I took it on the river last weekend and had some trouble.
First of all. The plastic oar shaft began slipping in the oar sleeves. I have those oar sleeves cranked down as tight as possible. I don't know what else to do, any ideas? It was not so bad having the oars further apart because they were easier to stow and maneuver around my body when needed. However they became considerably "heavier" because the...
