Late season Middle Salmon in a canoe?

Looking to do a Sept run on one of the Idaho classics in a canoe this year, Got a river tripper with some technical class 3+/4- under my belt, is Middle Salmon good to go in an open boat that time of year? how about Hells Canyon? How about for fishing?
