Traversing: BWCA Possibly Reopening for Canoeing & Camping on May 5th

The Boundary Waters Canoe Area looks to be opening its canoeing season on May 5th. The area was originally closed from April 15th until May 4th to lessen impacts to local communities while a Stay at Home order is in place to help slow the spread of COVID-19. While this hasn’t had a huge impact so far as the lakes have been ice-covered, it will be interesting to see if the order is lifted in time for the beginning of the canoe season.
