Oklahoma Athletic Commission will not fine Lee or Chiesa for press conference scuffle

The Oklahoma State Athletic Commission will not be taking any action against Kevin Lee or Michael Chiesa.

Top lightweight contenders Kevin Lee and Michael Chiesa have avoided the wrath of a state athletic commission, for now.

The Oklahoma State Athletic Commission (OSAC) confirmed to MMA Fighting on Tuesday that they will not be taking any action against Lee or Chiesa for their physical altercation at last month's UFC 'Summer Kickoff' press conference.

Things kicked off at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas when Lee made a casual comment about Chiesa's mom buying tickets for their headlining bout at UFC Fight Night 112. 'Maverick' warned Lee to never talk about his 'f*cking mom' and charged at the 24-year-old from across the stage. Security stopped Chiesa from attacking his opponent but Lee snuck in a clean right hand.

Although OSAC executive director Joe Miller will not be taking action against Lee or Chiesa, even though their grudge match takes place in Oklahoma City, the Texas Athletic Commission could intervene, given that their scuffle took place in Dallas.

If that is the case, Miller told MMAF that they would 'honor' the punishment.

"If they are disciplined and placed on suspension by another Commission, we will honor that suspension,” Miller said via email.

UFC Fight Night 112, which features Chiesa vs. Lee in the main event, takes place on June 25 at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
