Josh Warrington takes majority decision over Kiko Martinez

Nicola Adams scored her first professional stoppage earlier on the card.

Kiko Martinez might have come up short once again in Leeds, but he proved he still has something left in the tank by pushing Josh Warrington to his limits en route to a majority decision loss.

Though Warrington (25-0, 5 KO) got the nod with two 116-112s to overturn a 114-114, a quick Twitter browse suggests a slight lean in Martinez’s (36-8-1, 26KO) favor. Special notice goes to this guy, who thinks “basis” means “biased” and made that same statement on four separate occasions.

The win marked Warrington’s third defense of his WBC International title, fourth if you count the time Patrick Hyland came in overweight and got stopped in nine. He’s been pushing for a fight with Lee Selby, which could be interesting.

In other action, Nicola Adams (2-0, 1 KO) knocked out Maryan Salazar (5-2, 0 KO) in three and Tyrone Nurse (35-2-2, 7 KO) kept his upcoming British title defense against Jack Catterall intact with a one-sided decision over Andy Keates (12-7, 1 KO). Thomas Ward (21-0, 2 KO) also lifted the British super bantamweight belt from Jazza Dickens (22-3, 7 KO) with a nine-round technical decision.
