‘This whole fight’s unfinished business’: Tszyu talks weekend rematch with Fundora
Tim Tszyu looks to avenge his loss to Sebastian Fundora this Saturday.
Tim Tszyu talks to boxing media about this weekend’s rematch against Sebastian Fundora. When Tszyu first fought Fundora things were looking good early before an accidental elbow split open his scalp, causing massive bleeding into his eyes. The whole tenor of the fight immediately changed and Tszyu would go on to lose that fight, but now with a second shot at Fundora he hopes to change his fortune. Here’s some of what he had to say below.
Tszyu on the biggest difference in his upcoming rematch with Fundora
“I think the fact that we know each other now. We’ve shared the ring for 12 rounds, that’s a big difference and we’ll both make adjustments and we’ll see who’s going to make it correct on the night.”
On this rematch being unfinished business
“For sure. This whole fight’s unfinished business because for me, I left on a way where I wasn’t able to show myself completely. So this time we re-write history and I get to show myself.”
On what adjustments he’ll make to deal with Fundora’s height
“It’s hard, it’s hard for anyone. That’s the physical advantage he’s got, his arms are that much longer than yours but there’s little things...We’ll see. He’s been knocked out before by Mendoza so anything’s possible.”
On Fundora saying that the cut Tszyu received in the first fight didn’t hamper his performance
“Everyone knows. I don’t even have to explain that part. Like, everyone knows what happened, everyone saw it and I was wiping it off. I feel like I don’t even need to argue about that point, it’s just such a stupid thing to say.
“It’s a bullsh-t statement to say that I could see...I can’t wait to get in the ring so I can punish. I got a lot to prove but no bad blood.”
