Fundora vs Tsyzu rematch leads Pacquiao vs Barrios undercard
Sebastian Fundora and Tim Tszyu will run it back on July 19, headlining Manny Pacquiao’s comeback undercard.
Sebastian Fundora and Tim Tszyu are officially set to go at it again, as the two will rematch in the chief support bout on the Pacquiao vs Barrios undercard on July 19.
Fundora (22-1-1, 14 KO) will be defending his WBC super welterweight title, which he took from Tszyu (25-2, 18 KO) in March 2024, coming in on short notice to win the WBC and WBO belts. Fundora recently vacated the WBO title to pursue the rematch with Tszyu.
Tszyu followed his loss to Fundora with another loss to Bakhram Murtazaliev about seven months later. The Fundora fight saw Tszyu badly bloodied in the split decision loss, but Murtazaliev just plowed through him, with Tszyu hitting the canvas four times in less than three full rounds of action.
Tszyu, 30, bounced back with a carefully-chosen win against the over-matched Joey Spencer on April 6 in Australia. Fundora, 27, has fought just once since the win over Tszyu, a TKO-4 victory over Chordale Booker on March 22.
Another rematch will also feature on the pay-per-view undercard, as Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and Angel Fierro will run it back. Cruz (27-3-1, 18 KO) scored a 10-round decision win over Fierro (23-3-2, 18 KO) on February 1.
In the night’s PPV opener, Brandon Figueroa (25-2-1, 19 KO) will look to rebound from his featherweight title loss to Stephen Fulton by taking on veteran Joet Gonzalez (27-4, 15 KO), who will seek a fourth world title shot after failing in his first three tries from 2019-23.
