First robot boxing match; Persona AI developing industrial humanoid
In Episode 198 of The Robot Report Podcast, our guest is Nicolaus Radford, co-founder and CEO of Persona AI. The company said it is commercializing a multi-purpose humanoid to personify AI, enabling the next wave in robotics.
No longer are robots confined to the factory floor performing pick-and-place, welding, or painting. They are now also capable of tasks traditionally reserved only for human-level coordination and mobility, said Persona AI.
Radford talks about his new venture at the Houston company and teaming up with Jerry Pratt, another well-known roboticist in the humanoid space. He explains how building a strong team is crucial for a startup‘s success in the robotics industry.
Persona AI is currently focused on the commercialization of its products rather than simply creating demonstrations, according to Radford. The company‘s primary goal is to address the needs of heavy industry with its humanoid robots.
Radford asserts that the home market for humanoids is still a distant prospect and that one of the significant challenges in robotics development is the collection of adequate training data.
