Top Rank signs 2020 Olympic middleweight Cedeno
Tokyo quarterfinalist Euri Cedeno has some new promotional backing for his young pro career
25-year-old middleweight Euri Cedeno, who represented the Dominican Republic at the Tokyo Olympics, has joined forces with Top Rank and will make his promotional debut on their Juny 7th Keyshawn Davis vs Edwin De Los Santos show in Norfolk.
“It’s a great honor to join Top Rank’s incredible stable,” Cedeño said. “This opportunity results from years of hard work, including over 400 amateur fights, my Olympic run, and 11 wins as a pro. I’ve earned it, but there’s still a long way to go until I achieve my dream of becoming a world champion. I begin this next big chapter in my career on June 7 in Norfolk.”
Cedeno (11-0-1, 10 KO) defeated his first two Olympic opponents before falling short against the terrific Oleksandr Khyzniak in the quarterfinals. He subsequently made his pro debut in 2022, quickly racking up four wins in his native country before taking his talents to the States. His lone setback was a draw against Cuban amateur standout Dayan Depestre.
He’ll face Ecuador’s Abel Mina (18-3-1, 9 KO), who’s lost to most of his competent opponents but did take Kamil Szeremeta to a draw last year. A slight step up on paper.
