‘I’m prepared to go in there and make a big statement’: Harlem Eubank ready to face Jack Catterall
Harlem Eubank says a win over Jack Catterall will show the world what he’s all about.
With Harlem Eubank officially scheduled to take on Jack Catterall on July 5, he spends a few minutes talking to iFL TV about this big opportunity for him to prove himself at world level. Eubank says he rates Catterall as the best fighter under Matchroom, and it’s for that reason he pursued this fight.
“It’s a big one,” Eubank said. “It’s the type of fight that I’ve been ready for for a long time and the type of fight that I needed, and now’s the time, July 5th, when I go in there and show the world what I’m about.
“We called for this fight, this was a fight that we wanted for a long time and it’s here. We done our best to get it done and it’s done now. I’m prepared to go in there and make a big statement on July 5th.
“We believe Jack Catterall should’ve been undisputed champion of the world and we believe he’s the best fighter Matchroom have on their roster. That’s the type of opposition we’ve selected for July 5 because we’re here to prove a point. Make a big statement and a big splash on the world scene.
“It’s 147 pounds, I’m a 147 pound fighter. Jack wanted to come up to 147 pounds, Josh Taylor just moved up to 147 — that’s where the big fights are now. This is the hottest division in the sport right now, in the UK and globally as well. So that’s where the fight will be.”
