Teofimo Lopez tells the world that he’ll be fighting Jaron Ennis next.

Teofimo Lopez just recently took to social media to announce to the public that a fight between unified welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and himself is on the way. Lopez offered a few words on the topic during a live stream.

“I just wanted to get on here and let ya’ll know, man, it’s happening,” Lopez said of a fight with Boots. “This fight is happening. Crazy-fimo is happening, bruh. Teofimo is happening. 147 pound king, we’re coming for him.”

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn, who represents Boots, was separately asked about the fight between Teofimo and Boots, which he said could take place this August.

“We are talking, we are in negotiations for Jaron to fight Teofimo,” Hearn acknowledged. “There is a date in August that we could be looking at in Saudi Arabia but we weren’t really expecting to fight in August if I’m honest. We were expecting to fight in September/October, we have a mandatory challenger in Shakhram Giyasov who steeped aside for the Stanionis fight but I believe there’s a conversation to be had there.

“I’ve got a call with Jaron and the team and Bozy in about an hour to see if that’s something that we want to do. I will say there’s still the conversation about ‘47, ‘54. You know, it is inevitable, the move. But I feel like the Teofimo fight is a great fight and I think that’s a great option for him.”

This proposed fight appears to be gaining traction behind the push of Teofimo and Turki Alalshikh, but we’ll have to see if it actually comes off. For now Teofimo seems quite confident in its inevitability.
