Ryan Garcia and Rolando Romero sit down to talk about settling the score from their past sparring.

It’s fight week for the big May 2 card that will feature Ryan Garcia vs Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero. Looking ahead to the fight Chris Mannix sits down with both fighters on behalf of DAZN to talk about their impending collision alongside their backstory from a past sparring session years ago.

Chris Mannix wouldn’t have to do too much heavy lifting in this feature as he essentially just let Garcia and Romero have at it for long portions of time, periodically steering the conversation back to pointed questions.

Garcia, for his part, would discuss his renewed focus and discipline for this fight as he’s cut out the extracurricular activities of drinking and smoking, and now looks forward to ending all the talk about that infamous sparring session with Rolly where he got decked a few times.

“I’m happy this fight is finally happening because we get to find out what would happen in a real fight,” Garcia would say.

Both Garcia and Romero would go back and forth for a while before getting into an argument about who’s looked worse in their recent outings.

“I looked like sh-t but you got knocked out looking for Easter eggs with Isaac Cruz,” Garcia exclaimed. “You didn’t even know where you were at after the fight, he beat you that bad.”

A short while later the segment would hit its crescendo when Garcia questioned Romero’s resume — something Romero would get a little defensive about.

“I fought f-ckin’ punchers, bro” Romero said about his past opponents. “I fought a bunch of punchers.”

“Who?” Garcia asked.

“Barroso is a f-ckin’ crazy puncher,” Romero responded.

“Who?! The one that was on his way to beat you? The old man? The grandpa?!” Garcia questioned.

“So what, he was a f-ckin’ hard fight,” Romero said.

“Everybody knows it was a f-cked up [stoppage]. Everybody knows that. You were losing to him, you got dropped, but maybe he does hit hard,” Garcia replied.

“He f-ckin’ punches hard as sh-t” Romero would say, prompting Garcia to bust out laughing.
