Torrez wins clear decision over Vianello to stay unbeaten
Richard Torrez Jr remains undefeated after beating Guido Vianello.
Richard Torrez Jr took a deserved and clear decision over Guido Vianello tonight in Las Vegas, improving his record to 13-0 (11 KO) and going the 10-round distance for the first time.
The 25-year-old Torrez, who won silver at the Paris Olympics, further cemented his status as one of the sport’s more intriguing heavyweight prospects. Though he didn’t get a stoppage, he was clearly better than Vianello (13-3-1, 11 KO), and scored what is to date a career-best win.
Judges saw the fight 97-92, 98-91, and 98-91 for Torrez. Vianello lost a point in the second round for holding.

On the undercard
Lindolfo Delgado won a majority decision over Elvis Rodriguez, taking two cards of 96-94, with the third card even, 95-95. It’s a solid win for Delgado (23-0, 16 KO), who at 30 and as a former Olympian has really been brought along curiously slowly. Rodriguez (17-2-1, 13 KO) returned to Top Rank last year and won a couple fights. The last time he lost a fight on a Top Rank card, he got cut from the roster.
Top lightweight prospect Adullah Mason improved to 18-0 (16 KO) with a sixth round stoppage win over Carlos Ornelas, who drops to 28-5 (15 KO). It was the first scheduled 10-rounder for the 21-year-old Mason, but he didn’t need the distance.
