Tim Tszyu knows he can’t afford third straight loss as he takes on Joey Spencer this weekend.

Tim Tszyu spends some time talking to Marco Villegas about his upcoming fight against Joey Spencer, rebounding from consecutive losses, looking towards re-staging a fight against Keith Thurman and more. Check out some excerpts from Tszyu with the full video interview at the top.

Tszyu on what he hopes to show the world in fight against Spencer

“I just want to show a calculated, measured fighter that put on all the dominant performances from before and show it again.”

On why he’s facing Spencer when he could’ve taken an easier fight

“I never felt like I left. I had some hiccups on the way but I’m still with the top dogs there and I need to get myself back on that winning column.

“I think he’s got a couple plans, I think he’s going to come forward first and then he’s going to go back, and then come forward aggression, then he’s going to try to counter. He’s got good hooks and good boxing IQ so I don’t know, we’ll see what he brings and it’s all about adapting.”

On knowing the stakes are high for him in this fight, as a loss here would be an incredible setback for him at this point

“This is like sink or swim for me. That’s how I’m treating it.”

On being on a collision course with Keith Thurman

“It seems like the roads are leading down that path, especially with a fight in Australia. But, yeah, at the moment Joey Spencer’s on my mind.”

On if he still wants a rematch with Sebastian Fundora

“For sure. I think it’s a massive fight to make and there is still some unfinished business there from my side. It was a close fight, could’ve gone either way and, yeah, we’ll see what happens in the future.”
