Boots warns Stanionis against making mistakes in their unification fight
Go behind the scenes with Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and Eimantas Stanionis as they prepare to unify titles, April 12.
With IBF welterweight titleholder Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis set to face off with WBA champion Eimantas Stanionis on April 12, Matchroom gives the fans an inside look at both fighters in the lead up to their showdown with their Make The Days Count segment.
During the promotional build up both fighters would come face to face with their respective title belts for a photo op and couldn’t pass up the chance to begin the mental warfare.
“We all have flaws, we all not perfect and you know that,” Stanionis would say to Boots. “We are human beings, we all make mistakes.”
“Yeah, just don’t make none on fight night,” Boots would reply.
From there we get a peek at Stanionis in training camp, working on his conditioning for the fight. Stanionis isn’t known for brutal power or blazing speed, but his coaches says it’s his stamina and strong mind set that separates him from others.
Meanwhile we get to take a look at Boots in camp as he works to hone his technique while his father/trainer Bozy gives his impression on recent criticism aimed as his son.
“I think Boots got in the habit of knocking everybody out,” Bozy says. “Then you forget what got you there...He got so hung up on knocking guys out and then he find out you can’t punch, he don’t care about you touching him. But I want to get away from that,” Bozy would add while chuckling.
