Ferreira on the fight’s key moment
“(Injuries are) part of the war. We expect this. This is what happens. We come in prepared for war, for anything. It doesn’t matter if I’m cut, if I’m hurt, if my legs are sore. We’re here to come out with a win. I didn’t even feel (the two low blows). I didn’t take my eyes off (the goal). I stayed calm and focused. At one point, he looked like he was prey during my hunting season, and I was not going to take my eyes off him.”
Ferreira on his improbable submission
“Someone owes me a Brazilian barbecue. This was my dream, to fight here at T-Mobile Arena. To be here, to be able to fight in the place I’ve always dreamt of, and to finish that way – I wanted to display my ground game, my grappling, and show that other element. I was very happy to get the win the way I wanted.”
Ferreira on what he wants next
“I’ve got a medical suspension, so I’m not going to do much until (that is over). But I’m not going to be idle. It’s not going to stop me. I’m going to be training something. I want to be active and all the boss has got to do is give me a call and I’ll be ready to fight anyone.
“For sure (I would fight Bo Nickal on May 3 in Iowa). This is a guy I called out before. I got no answer. I think now he just saw he’s got someone on his level – who’s got the grappling, who’s got the ground game, a judo black belt, a jiu-jitsu black belt, and a knockout artist. The ball is in his court. What’s up?”
