Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano 3 official for July 11 on Netflix
Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will fight for a third time, this time headlining on Netflix from Madison Square Garden.
Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will square off for a third time on Friday, July 11, in a Netflix-streamed main event from Madison Square Garden, Most Valuable Promotions announced today.
Taylor (24-1, 6 KO is 2-0 against Serrano (47-3-1, 31 KO), with both wins extremely close and debatable. They first met in April 2022 at a raucous Madison Square Garden in a legitimately historic fight and main event, with Taylor retaining her undisputed lightweight championship by split decision.
They rematched last November at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex., as the chief support to Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson, with Taylor winning 95-94 on all three scorecards to retain her undisputed super lightweight championship. Both fights were also terrific in terms of entertainment value and showcased how good both women truly are.
The third fight is natural, basically, because it is by some distance the biggest money fight either can do. Taylor and Serrano are 38 and 36, respectively, and have done pretty much all they’re going to do in terms of achievements and accomplishments, and now it’s about making the biggest, best fights.
And the two remain the biggest and best opponent for one another.
The show will be an all-women’s card, as MVP continues its commitment to promoting that side of the sport. No other fights have yet been announced.
“I’m 2-0 against Amanda but it’s obviously a very special rivalry that delivers every time we step in the ring, so I think it’s only right that we have the trilogy,” Taylor said.
“The atmosphere for the first fight there was amazing and I’m sure it won’t be any different this time around. The numbers that got to see the last fight in November were incredible, so hopefully those people will all want to tune in for the trilogy fight as well and we can deliver another great fight.”
The fight will not be adjusted to 12, three-minute rounds, which Serrano says is a disappointment for her. She has campaigned for this to be the championship standard in women’s boxing, as it is in men’s, rather than the established 10, two-minute rounds.
“I promised my fans they would see this trilogy, and I’m incredibly grateful that we get to complete our journey where it all began, at Madison Square Garden,” said Amanda Serrano. “I’m disappointed that Katie Taylor did not keep her word and make the trilogy 12, three-minute rounds, equal to the men. This is a record-setting payday for both of us, and we owed it to the fans to honor the handshake deal we made. She didn’t.
“But make no mistake, every time we share the ring, it is war, and I know this will be the greatest yet because I will finally get the official W I deserve. Headlining an all-female card at MSG, representing both New York and Puerto Rico, is something I never thought would be possible. I’m proud to stand alongside all the talented women on this card, and I hope our fight inspires young girls everywhere to keep believing in themselves and never stop chasing their dreams.”
