Jamahal Hill opens up on Jiri Prochazka loss at UFC 311: 'Absolutely no excuse'

0 3

Jamahal Hill will go back to the drawing board after suffering his second-straight loss at UFC 311.

Hill (12-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) was finished by Jiri Prochazka (31-5-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in a third-round TKO loss in January. The former UFC light heavyweight champion credits Prochazka for the adjustments he made.

“Obviously, the fight didn’t go the way that I wanted it to,” Hill said on his YouTube channel. “I’ve got to give a shout out to Jiri. He made great adjustments. He looked really good, brought in some new elements to his game. That was good to see. I wasn’t able to get the win. Ultimately, just have fun out there.

“I really, really had a good time, enjoyed the fight. Had fun in there, going back-and-forth. It was a war, went back-and-forth, former champions. Hopefully we delivered. I appreciate all the love and support. Ultimately, that’s the goal. I want to dominate, I want to win. I want to put out a good product, so at least I was able to do that.”

Since returning from surgery due to a torn achilles, Hill has been finished by UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, then Prochazka. He was a bit disappointed with the stoppage, but is at peace with how the fight ended.

“I would have liked to go out on my shield if he’s going to put me out. It is what it is at that point,” Hill said. “I know what I signed up for. That was an opportunity that I would have liked to have. As I said, dealing with things and stuff like that, going to the fight, absolutely no excuse. I felt like I was in a position to come out and get my hand raised. I banked it all on myself, went out there and ultimately I just came up short.”
