UFC Fight Night 252's Melsik Baghdasaryan unconcerned about another Jean Silva weight miss

0 3

SEATTLE – Melsik Baghdasaryan doesn’t care about anything Jean Silva does from fight week and into the octagon ahead of their UFC Fight Night 252 clash.

Baghdasaryan (8-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) was dismissive of all things Silva (14-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) in advance of Saturday’s featherweight bout at Climate Pledge Arena (ESPN+). He claims he hasn’t watched any tape of his opponent, which is standard for him, nor does he care about the public excitement of his Brazilian foe, who has had a destructive start to his octagon tenure.

“I don’t care if there is really good hype about someone,” Baghdasaryan told MMA Junkie and other reporters at Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night 252 media day. “I always do my thing. Before the UFC, and now in the UFC. It doesn’t matter who is my opponent. I always do the same. That’s great if there is good hype about my opponent. It’s going to be great. Everything will turn around to me.”

Baghdasaryan, 33, hasn’t seen action since a July 2023 victory over Tucker Lutz. He said injuries have held him back from competing, but he’s now healthy and prepared to start his 2025 schedule on a positive note.

In Baghdasaryan’s mind, there’s nothing that’s going to stop him from achieving the win. That includes Silva, who was 1.5 pounds heavy on the scale for his previous featherweight bout in the UFC, missing weight again.

“I don’t care,” Baghdasaryan said. “He can miss weight, and I’m going to fight anyway.”
