Earlier today Koki Kameda, the head of 3150 Fight, announced two shows, on back to back dates in later March.
As reported earlier, one of those shows will be headlined by IBF Light Flyweight champion Masamichi Yabuki (17-4, 16) [佐藤政道] moving up in weight in an attempt to become a 2-weight world champion, as he faces IBF Flyweight champion Angel Ayala Lardizabal (18-0, 8) at the Aichi International Exhibition Center. That bout, on March 29th, will headline the first of the two shows and just a day later WBC Minimumweight champion Melvin Jerusalem (23-3, 12) will return to Japan to face the man he beat for the title, Japan’s Yudai Shigeoka (9-1, 5) [重岡優大], on 3150×LUSHBOMU vol.5
At the press conference to announce the bout Shigeoka explained "He's the strongest and I respect him, but he's also the opponent I need to get revenge on. I want to win." and it was clear that he will be determined to avenge his first, and so far only, professional loss.
In their first bout, which took place almost a year prior, on March 31st 2024, Jerusalem dropped Shigeoka twice, in rounds 3 and 6, with the knockdowns ultimately being the difference on the scorecards, which were 114-112, twice, in favour of Jerusalem and 114-113 in favour of Shigeoka, resulting in the split decision win for Jerusalem in a notable upset.
Since their first bout Jerusalem has defended the belt once, scoring a clear decision win over the previously unbeaten Luis Castillo in September, in a bout that saw Castillo being dropped in the opening round, then showing his toughness to see out some torrid moments and reach the final bell. Interestingly Shigeoka has also only fought once, scoring a win over former world title contender Samuel Salva in August 2024, in what was a clear but hard fought win.
Much like the Yabuki Vs Ayala fight (more about that here), this will be available on Abema, and is expected to have a strong under-card with several notable names on it, as well as a solid domestic clash between Towa Tsuji (9-1, 6) [辻永遠] and Shori Umezu (11-1-1, 7) [梅津奨利],
Note - the venue is listed on Boxrec as the Aichi Sky Expo, Tokoname, Aichi the venue is also known as the Aichi International Exhibition Center (as seen by the venue’s own website https://www.aichiskyexpo.com/?lang=en)
