David Benavidez says David Morrell is realizing what he’s up against and his nerves are showing.

Following in final press conference for David Benavidez’s fight against David Morrell tomorrow night, Benavidez takes some time to talk to Fight Hub TV about what he noticed in his opponent during the final presser and his expectations for his performance. Here are some excerpts of what Benavidez had to say below.

Benavidez on his final press conference with Morrell

“To be honest with you, this has been a really good press run. It’s been really successful with all the views we got, all the shit we been talking. But it’s nothing fake. At the end of the day, if I can slap his manager I would slap him if I wouldn’t get in trouble. But this just amplifies the energy of the fight.

“David Morrell, he’s been talking a lot about me but it’s funny when he gets up here you see his energy is way different, he didn’t even want to look at me in my eyes. So me, I’m 100% confident in myself, that’s why I’m speaking. I know exactly what I’m going to do. But David Morrell, you shouldn’t have talked all that sh-t. You bit off way more than you can chew. He thought I would never accept the fight and now here we are. Watch what I’m going to do this dude.”

On calling out Morrell’s manager, saying he’s making more from the fight than Morrell himself

“I don’t want to talk about that. Everything that I said, it just stays up there (in the press conference). I don’t want to talk about David Morrell’s manager, I don’t want to talk about his sparring partner. What we are talking about is this Saturday I’m going put a f-cking beating on David Morrell and that’s what it is.”

On how he sees the fight unfolding

“I see myself systematically breaking him down. I think I’m just going to overwhelm him with punches. My punches in bunches is unlike anybody else in the sport. I’m the #2 most accurate puncher in the sport. I don’t really get hit that much, I don’t know why people think I don’t have defense.

“So what I notice from my previous fights when I fight great fighters, when I get in there and they don’t have success like they had with other fighters they get a certain look in their eye like ‘oh sh-t’, like ‘this guy is really good’ and I’m expecting the same thing here.

“But if I do get put in a position where it’s a good, competitive fight, I’m ready to go to war. This is what I’m here for. Nothing is guaranteed, there’s no easy fights here. Nothing is guaranteed but I’m ready to put my heart and soul in the ring and I’m ready to put it all in the ring and beat David Morrell, whatever it may take.”
