Morning Report: Mike Perry hopes to ‘knock those fake teeth right out’ of Darren Till’s mouth in Dirty Boxing ring
Mike Perry is still planning to settle the score with Darren Till.
The combat sports veterans have a feud dating back to their time as members of the UFC welterweight roster, with personal interactions that sometimes had them as friends, sometimes as enemies, and sometimes as frienemies. At the moment, their relationship is distinctly adversarial, with the two both accusing the other of avoiding a fight.
Complicating matters is that though they’ve both transitioned away from MMA, their paths aren’t quite aligned. Perry has emerged as the face of the budding Bare Knuckle Boxing Promotion, while Till has transitioned to traditional boxing, with a twist. Till is scheduled to headline the Jan. 18 Misfits Boxing event in Manchester, England, opposite Anthony Taylor, who stepped in as a replacement for Tommy Fury.
BKFC boss Dave Feldman has confirmed that the organization still has big plans for Perry, who also boxed recently in a losing effort against Jake Paul this past July. While Perry appears to be on the same page after initially complaining about inactivity, he also hopes to welcome Till to his own fight promotion, Dirty Boxing Championship.
“I, myself, have plans to fight my biggest fights,” Perry said on his Overdogs Podcast. “BKFC is coming up around the corner, I’ll be planning on fighting a great name soon in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships, as well as starting some drama inside of DBX.
“The Dirty Boxing Championship ring is a great place for me to meet such guys like Darren Till, who’s too afraid to face me with no gloves on. So we’ll wear the five ounces and I’ll knock those fake teeth right out of his mouth.”
Perry’s Dirty Boxing promotion uses a hybrid ruleset, with the competitors wearing five-ounce gloves and permitted to use limited ground-and-pound. The upstart organization generated buzz this past November with an event in Miami that produced several viral clips, including MMA veteran Yoel Romero clobbering Duane Crespo.
Once Till settles his business with Taylor, it’s possible he resumes his feud with Perry, but he’s yet to respond to the latest callout.
