Richard Hitchins gives Floyd Schofield no chance to beat Shakur Stevenson when they meet on Feb. 22.

Floyd ‘Kid Austin’ Schofield will be taking a big step up in competition when the 22-year-old fighter takes on Shakur Stevenson on Feb. 22, and newly minted champion Richardson calls the fight a money grab as he gives Schofield no real shot to win the fight. Here’s some of what Hitchins had to say about the matchup.

Hitchins on the Shakur Stevenson vs Floyd ‘Kid Austin’ Schofield fight

“He’s a kid...I give him credit for taking the fight but I think he’s one of the fighters that it was smart for him to jump on the opportunity right now. It’s not a lose-lose, you losing to a guy that’s a pound for pound type of talent guy...and if he wins he’s on top of the world.

“He can’t beat Shakur. Simple math, he can’t beat Shakur, it’s nothing I got to think about. I think it’s easy work for Shakur. Hopefully the dad do bring a lot of excitement to the build up, make us kind of believe that he can beat Shakur. It is what it is. Maybe in basketball he can beat Shakur, maybe...as far as boxing, no.”

On how he expects that fight to look

“I think that Kid Austin do got tools that gonna make it difficult on Shakur, the youth, I think he does have power...he’s young, he’s got reflexes...he has shit to make Shakur not dominate him. But as far as beating him, he’s not going to beat Shakur. He doesn’t have one-punch knockout power...he don’t have the experience...he don’t really got nothing that can compete with Shakur.

“I feel like the only guys that can compete with Shakur is guys like Tank, me, Keyshawn — guys that’s been around for some time now, the Gary Russells, the guys that’s been in that class for a minute. I think Kid Austin is still a young kid...it’s just different. And he knows that, he’s been in the ring with Shakur...It’s a money grab and we’ll see.”
