Mizuki Hiruta to defend WBO world title in January in California!

0 12
A few hours ago Tom Loeffler's 360 Promotions announced that WBO female Super Flyweight champion Mizuki Hiruta (6-0, 2) [晝田瑞希] would be making her international debut on January 17th, as she makes her third defense and takes on Mexican veteran Maribel Ramirez (15-10-4, 3) at the Commerce Casino, Commerce, California.

Hiruta won the title in December 2022, when she took a wide decision over Kanako Taniyama. Since then she has stopped both Casey Croft  inside a round, in her first defense and Ji Hyun Park, in 6 rounds. Sadly though she hasn't fought since January 2024 and will have been out of the ring for more than a year before getting in with Ramirez. In the ring she’s a very technically solid fighter, who won her first 4 bouts by decision only losing rounds to Terumi Nuki, who a multi time world title challenger who she fought in her second professional bout, before finding a more offensive and powerful style which has seen her score her two recent stoppages. She’s technical, accurate, fast, hits hard and has got a lot of in ring time for someone with just 6 bouts, already having 37 good, high quality rounds to her name. Now aged 28 she’s just coming into her prime.

As for Ramirez, the 38 year old Mexican made her debut in 2009 and went 6-0-1 before losing to the legendary Mariana Juarez in 2010. Since then she has had mixed success, though faced some of the top female fighters of the last 15 years, facing the likes of Zulina Munoz and Naoko Fujioka. She's become something of a road warrior, fighting in New Zealand, Argentina, Chile, Switzerland, Colombia and Japan since 2013. Sadly however she has lost many of her most notable bouts and is now coming to the back end of her career. Despite that she should serve as the ideal opponent for Hiruta here, in what is a huge bout for the Japanese world champion.

For fans wanting to watch this, it will be show on UFC Fight Pass.
