ROBLES AND ABNE WIN WBA REGIONAL BELTS

TALISAY CITY,CEBU - Berland Robles (11-0-1,4KO’s) of the Philippines remained undefeated when he won the WBA South flyweight title against Chenghao Luo (7-2-1,4 KO’s) from China in the main bout of the card billed as ENKWENTRO 14.
Robles built an early lead by peppering Luo with jabs and one-two combos. Luo showed his resilience and kept himself in the fight by pressuring Robles. Robles had his best round when he trapped Luo on the ropes but he could not finish him off. Robles did enough to win, two of the three judges Greg Ortega and Tony Pesos had it for Robles ,96-94 and 97-93 respectively while Edgar Olalo had it 95-95.
The Referee for the two WBA bouts was Nowel Haduca.
Ian Paul Abne (12-0-1,4 KO’s) had an easier time against another Chinese boxer, Jin Ping Yang (5-5-1,1KO). Abne had the clear edge in the power department but Yang showed a sturdy chin. But Abne had no trouble getting his punches in. The scores – Edgar Olalo – 98-92, Tony Pesons – 100-90 and Greg Ortega – 96-94.
Abne captured the WBA South minimumweight title.
For the undercards - – Rodel Wenceslao stopped a bloodied and battered Ryan Sermona after four rounds. April Jay Abne got a unanimous nod against Anferne Palarca after eight rounds. The scores – Michael Espinosa – 80-70, Edgar Olalo – 79-73 and Arnel Pasion – 78-74. and Angelus Pilapil also had a unanimous verdict against Mohaleden Kalibo in six rounds; The scores – Michael Espinosa – 59-55, Edgar Olalo – 59-55 and Arnel Pasion – 58-56.
The fights were held at the Barangay Bulacao Multi-Purpose Gym in Talisay City. This event was promoted by ARQ Sports.
