‘A lot of rumors’: Teofimo Lopez denies negotiations for Devin Haney fight

Teofimo Lopez shoots down rumors about a potential fight with Devin Haney.

Following reports of Teofimo Lopez supposedly in negotiations for a fight with Devin Haney, Lopez takes to social media to shoot down those reports, saying it’s all just rumors and that he’s still targeting a fight against Terence Crawford to happen in the coming year.

“How many of you guys want to see that fight, me and Haney?” Lopez asked. “‘Cause I don’t know, man. There’s rumors going out there, that’s all I know. A lot of rumors. I haven’t received nothing, that’s all I know.

“Next year. I promise you guys that fight [with Crawford] is going to happen sometime in the summer, next year or close to the fall, next year. 20025 is an amazing year for the Takeover...we got a lot of great fights to come up. I’m hearing rumors of course about the negotiations of me and Devin Haney. Right now, sorry to say guys, but this is all false, accusations until further notice, guys.”

Lopez, 27, is most recently coming off a unanimous decision win over Steve Claggett this past June and doesn’t seem like he’s on the verge of an imminent return.
