Kyonosuke Kameda to face former world champion!

Earlier today Futur Boxing announced their next show, set for October 20th at the KBS Hall in Kyoto. The real talking point of the announcement was the main event of the show, which is set to feature a member from one of the most notable Japanese boxing families, taking on a former world champion, though one who is clearly coming to the end of his long career.
The bout in question will see Kyonosuke Kameda (13-3-2, 8) [亀田京之介], the cousin of the three Kameda boxing brothers, headline the show against former WBC Super Flyweight champion Suriyan Sor Rungvisai (52-7-1, 28) [สุริยัน ศ.รุ่งวิสัย], aka Suriyan Kaikanha, in an 8 rounder at 130lbs.
The 25 year old Kameda has developed amazingly well since losing on his debut in 2018, winning the Japanese Youth Featherweight title in 2021 when he beat current Japanese Super Featherweight champion Tsubasa Narai. Coming into this bout he is unbeaten in his last 7, going 6-0-1, but this will be the first time he's faced a former world champion and it is clearly a step up in class for him.
As for Suriyan, who is now 35, the Thai is a true veteran who debuted back in 2006 and has had genuinely notable career. He came up short against fellow Thai great Pongsaklek Wonjongkam in a WBC Flyweight title bout in 2010 before upsetting Tomas Rojas for the WBC Super Flyweight title in 2011. He made one defense before losing the title to Yota Sato and moved up in weight, becoming working his way towards a WBC Bantamweight title fight with Shinsuke Yamanaka, which saw Suriyan being knockdown 3 times but still put up a gritty effort against the Japanese great. His career seemed over in 2017, after a win over Tommy Seran, but he made a comeback earlier this year and has notched 3 low level TKO's in Pathum Thani whilst shaking some ring rust.
Notably Suriyan has never won in Japan, but his losses in the country came to world class fighters in the form of Sato and Yamanaka
