Treasure Boxing card for October announced

0 1
Earlier today Masayuki Ito announced the line up for the next Treasure Boxing card, which will take place on September 13th at the Yokohama Budokan in Yokohama.

The card will be headlined by former world champion John Riel Casimero (33-4-1, 22) taking on the fun to watch Saul Sanchez (21-3, 12) in what should be a sensational 10 round bout at Super Bantamweight. Casimero, fighting for the first time since his disappointing technical draw with Yukinmori Oguni in October 2023, will be looking to make a statement in an attempt to get himself back in the mix for a world title bout, and potential showdown with Japanese star Naoya Inoue. As for Sanchez the bout will see him look to build on a recent win over Arthur Villanueva in July and a close loss to Jason Moloney in January, in what is still one of the best bouts of 2024.

The chief support bout will be the rubber match between former 2-weight champion Hiroto Kyoguchi (18-2, 12) [京口紘人] and Filipino fighter Vince Paras (21-2-1, 15). These two first clashed back in 2018, with Kyoguchi taking a win to retain the IBF Minimumweight title, with Paras claiming a controversial decision over Kyoguchi back in May this year, leading to this match up. Given how their second bout went, and the result of it, we’re expecting to see Kyoguchi try to keep the judges out of the bout, which should give us a very special war.

We've already mentioned Casimero, but his most recent opponent, former IBF Super Bantamweight champion Yukinori Oguni (21-2-3, 8) [小國以載] will also be on the card as he takes on Namibian fighter Fillipus Nghitumbwa (14-2, 12), himself a former Casimero opponent who lost to the Filipino 2023.

One other notable name set for this card will be former WBO Minimumweight champion Masataka Taniguchi (18-4, 12) [谷口将隆], though his opponents hasn’t yet been announced.
