Fight Night Program – Week of Aug. 9-14

The weekend is approaching, and from Friday to Sunday it will be “fight-o-clock” somewhere in the world. Every Thursday, The Ring will bring you the most up-to-date information on the most relevant fights you need to see in this week-at-a-glance, one-stop enhanced fight schedule. A quick checklist for the cognoscenti, a useful nuts-and-bolts guide for the boxing neophyte is what we’re aiming at.

Here are this week’s most relevant fights:

Friday, August 9 – Restaurante Arroyo, Mexico City

Angel Ayala vs. Dave Apolinario – flyweight – 12 rounds

Argi Cortes vs. Salvador Juarez – junior bantamweight – 10 rounds

Angel Alvarado Soto vs. Jose Angel Perez Diaz – flyweight – 8 rounds

Silvia Torres vs. Arlenn Sanchez – women’s strawweight – 8 rounds

Where to watch it: ESPN+

Friday, August 9 – Polar Park, Worcester, Mass.

Josniel Castro vs. Jerry Bradford – junior middleweight – 8 rounds

Maureen Shea vs. Beata Dudek – female junior featherweight – 8 rounds

Kevin Nagle vs. Jose Humberto Corral – heavyweight – 8 rounds

Keno Luna vs. Izaiah Vargas – junior middleweight – 4 rounds

Saturday, August 10 – Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas

Serhii Bohachuk vs. Vergil Ortiz Jr. – junior middleweight – 12 rounds

Two knockout artists with something to prove? You can hardly come up with a better recipe for a boxing match. High stakes, terrific KO percentages, it’s all there. Bohachuk has been down before, but Ortiz still rides a perfect 100% KO ratio and he’ll do everything in his power to keep it that way. Hold on to your hats, this one has KOTY written all over it.

Also on this card:

Gabriela Fundora vs. Daniela Asenjo – women’s flyweight – 10 rounds

Cecilia Braekhus vs. Mariclea Cornejo – women’s junior middleweight – 10 rounds

Charles Conwell vs. Khiary Gray – junior middleweight – 10 rounds

Kenneth Sims Jr. vs. Jair Valtierra – junior welterweight – 10 rounds

Eric Priest vs. Luka Lozo – middleweight – 10 rounds

Joel Iriarte vs. Miguel Ortiz – welterweight – 6 rounds

Where to watch it: DAZN

Saturday, August 10 – Tingley Coliseum, Albuquerque, N.M.

Luis Alberto Lopez vs. Angelo Leo – featherweight – 12 rounds

“Venado” Lopez is one of the most entertaining fighters out there, and Leo has the chops to keep him honest and on his toes. A hard-fought defense of the IBF belt for the Mexican brawler, or a mild upset for the local kid? We’ll definitely be watching.

Also on this card:

Lindolfo Delgado vs. Bryan Flores – junior welterweight – 10 rounds

Vito Mielnicki Jr. vs. Laszlo Toth – junior middleweight – 10 rounds

Arnold Khegai vs. Belmar Preciado – featherweight – 10 rounds

Alan Garcia vs. Maickol Lopez – lightweight – 8 rounds

Matthew Griego vs. Gilberto Mendoza – flyweight – 8 rounds

Where to watch it: ESPN, ESPN Deportes, ESPN+
