Another fight, another win for Jordan White.

The fringe junior lightweight contender defeated Jason Sanchez by unanimous decision late Saturday night at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in his hometown of Washington, DC.

Sanchez was the aggressor from the opening bell, attempting to walk White down. By the middle rounds, White effectively countered Sanchez throughout most of the exchanges, also blocking Sanchez’s punches with his gloves.

Despite being outboxed, White continued countering and outboxing Sanchez throughout most of the second half of the fight.

Scores were 97-93, 97-93, and 99-91 for White, who improved to 18-1, 12 knockouts.

John White, who is the father and trainer of Jordan White, was impressed with his son’s performance. He hopes to fight some of the top fighters at 130 pounds, including WBA world titleholder Lamont Roach, who also lives in the Washington, DC area.

“(We are) looking forward to getting back in the ring later in the year,” White told The Ring late Sunday night. “Jordan is the current NABF champion. We want to fight the top world titleholders.”

“We hope to display his talent on the big stage in the near future,” said the elder White, who stated that his son is a promotional free agent.

“Jordan has great versatility and made adjustments mid-fight and displayed his skill-set,” said White. “Congrats to Sanchez for coming in as a worthy opponent and displaying a heart of a prizefighter.”

In his previous fight on May 18, White stopped former world title challenger Jonathan Oquendo in the opening round. On November 4, the 26-year-old defeated former prospect Jose Edgardo Garcia by unanimous decision.

Both fights took place at the Entertainment and Sports Arena, where White has attracted crowds between 2,500 and 3,000.

White’s most notable win of his career thus far was a knockout victory over Eridson Garcia on August 4 of last year on a ShoBox telecast. White has not lost since his fifth pro fight in May 2017, a decision loss to Adam Lopez.

Sanchez, who resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico, falls to 16-6, 9 KOs. In his previous fight on April 22 of last year, Sanchez lost by unanimous decision to Zelfa Barrett.

The 29-year-old has now lost five of his last seven fights since losing to then-WBO featherweight titleholder Oscar Valdez in June 2019.

The White-Sanchez fight headlined a Davis Boxing Promotions card.
