UFC on ABC 7 results: Shara Magomedov outlasts Michal Oleksiejczuk, calls out Nick Diaz

Shara Magomedov threw the kitchen sink at Michal Oleksiejczuk.

Magomedov (14-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) remained unbeaten when he defeated Oleksiejczuk (19-9 MMA, 7-7 UFC) by unanimous decision Saturday. The middleweight bout was the UFC on ABC 7 co-main event at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

Oleksiejczuk landed up top early to kick off Round 1, as Magomedov fired back with a leg kick. Oleksiejczuk briefly dropped Magomedov with a straight left. Oleksiejczuk continued to apply heavy pressure. Magomedov split Oleksiejczuk open with an elbow, and landed numerous shots to the body. Oleksiejczuk caught a Magomeov kick and clinched. Oleksiejczuk landed two straight right hands towards the end of the round.

Oleksiejczuk stormed into Round 2 by applying heavy pressure, but both fighters appeared to slow down after a frenetic Round 1. Magomedov continued his kick heavy approach and both fighters landed brutal shots in the clinch. Oleksiejczuk caught a Magomedov kick and jumped on his back as the round winded down.

In the final round, Magomedov taunted Oleksiejczuk. He used his body kicks to keep Oleksiejczuk at bay. Oleksiejczuk lunged forward with big overhand shots. Their output started to dip. Magomedov went to the body then head as the crowd cheered him on. Oleksiejczuk landed a takedown, but Magomedov popped right back up. With one minute remaining, Oleksiejczuk landed a pivotal takedown, but Magomedov threw an array of elbows from bottom.

Magomedov put his hands up in the air as Oleksiejczuk was being attended to on the ground. The visual left a good impression on the judges who crowned Magomedov the winner. “Bullet” proceeded to call out Nick Diaz, who was originally scheduled on this card vs. Vicente Luque, but withdrew due to travel issues.
