Arthur Biyarslanov scheduled to face Marcos Villasana Jr. in Montreal on Sept. 5
Rising junior welterweight Arthur Biyarslanov will put his NABF title on the line for the first time against grizzled Mexican veteran Marcos Villasana Jr. in the main event at the Montreal Casino, Montreal on September 5.

“It’s quite exciting to defend my title for the first time,” Biyarslanov said in a press release. “My goal is to advance in the rankings with each fight. I plan to step up my level of opposition every time, until the day I get my chance at the top.”
The undercard will be announced at a later date but will feature Imam Khataev (7-0, 7 knockouts) in co-feature in a defense of his NABF light heavyweight title. Mary Spencer (8-2, 6 KOs) will be back in a significant fight.
Meanwhile, EOTT will showcase their impressive young stable including Wilkens Mathieu (9-0, 6 KOs), Moreno Fendero (6-0, 4 KOs) Christopher Guerrero (11-0, 6 KOs), Avery Martin Duval (11-0-1, 7 KOs) and Jhon Orobio (10-0, 9 KOs).
Biyarslanov (15-0, 13 KOs) was born in Chechnya but moved to Canada at a young age. He was a successful amateur, who represented his adopted homeland at the 2016 Olympics losing at the quarter-final stage.
The 29-year-old southpaw turned professional in the fall of 2018. His initial progress was slow but steady and something of a slow burn. He signed with EOTT earlier this year and having already annexed the regional NABF title looks like he will now see his career pick up some steam.
Villasana (28-7, 15 KOs) is a second generation boxer, following in his father, Marcos Sr., who held the WBC featherweight title in the early 1990s, into boxing. He turned professional in his native Acapulco in 2011.
He won some and lost some on his way up. He lost to Nery Saguilan (UD 10) but gained revenge (UD 12). He has won 13 of 14 since Saguilan reverse in 2015. He holds upset wins over Jose Felix (TKO 9), Pablo Vicente (SD 12) and future welterweight contender Roiman Villa (SD 12). The gritty 33-year’s only loss in that period came against Dzmitry Asanau (UD 8).
However, Villasana Jr. hasn’t fought in two-years but has only been stopped once – due to an injury – in his career and figures to give Biyarslanov rounds.
