Errol Spence says Frank Martin will need to keep a sharp focus throughout the entirety of his upcoming fight with Gervonta Davis.

With Errol Spence putting his promoter’s cap on ahead of this weekend’s PPV fight between Gervonta Davis and Frank Martin, Spence explains why Martin can’t let Tank psyche him out under the bright lights of the event.

Spence on pre-fight build up to Tank vs Martin

“(Martin) just got to be focused, got to be on point, and he can’t let Tank get under his skin because that’s what he’s been doing. They’ve been talking a lot and trying to get under his skin, trying to rattle him ‘cause he know Frank ain’t been on this type of stage before so he’s trying to show him up, let him know that he’s the big dog.”

On what advice he’s given to Martin

“Just stay focused, keep working, and stay dedicated to your craft and don’t let his antics get under your skin...just stay focused, stay hungry and realize that he’s equal to Tank, Tank has just been here before and he been on this stage before and it’s your time to prove it ‘cause all the greats had to be on this stage. All the greats, their first time was on this stage where they had to prove their self and they proved their self. So he can do the same if you want to be great.”

On if Martin has to be careful not to fall into a trap by Tank

“I feel like he just can’t get lulled to sleep. I feel like Tank will let you get off, do your thing, and he just doing what he does, going through the motions. He’ll make you respect his punch every now and then and then I feel like later in the round you kind of wearing down or you kind of mentally fatigued, that’s when he’s ready to press the gas and he jump on you to get you out of there. So he got to stay focused throughout the whole 12 rounds.”

On saying his upcoming fight against Sebastian Fundora could be his last fight

“Nah, I ain’t firm on it but I could go out the door at any time.”
