Misfits Boxing 14 results: Salt Papi makes Amadeusz Ferrari quit on stool in wild main event

0 10

Salt Papi is back in the win column, and had to overcome an opponent who fought outside of the rules multiple times throughout.

Papi faced MMA fighter Amadeusz Ferrari in the main event of Misfits Boxing 14 on Saturday in London. Ferrari began the fight aggressively, but Papi weathered the storm and began to outclass his opponent. After three rounds, Ferrari refused to get off the stool and the bout was waved off.

Papi landed big shots early, but Ferrari tried to turn it into a street fight as both were winging punches with full power. Papi eventually scored a knockdown with about 10 seconds left in the opening stanza, although Ferrari disputed it immediately.

Ferrari continued to make the fight dirty in Round 2, leading with his head during every exchange, leading to a point deduction. Ferrari just kept swinging for the fences, which continuously put a smile on Papi’s face. After Papi landed a beautiful counter check hook, the round ended with a takedown from Ferrari. In the third round, Papi teed off on Ferrari until the MMA veteran shot a double leg and got a takedown, then had another point deducted for leading with the head. That would ultimately be the final moment of the bout.

With the win, Papi bounced back from consecutive losses to Anthony Taylor and Slim.

In the co-main event, the Misfits Boxing women’s cruiserweight championship was on the line as Jully Poca defended against 6ar6ie6. The women delivered the runaway fight of the card with nothing but straight heat traded throughout — more specifically in the fifth and final round. Poca retained the title with a sweep of the scorecards in a fight that was certainly much closer than the scores would suggest.
