Spence: If I can’t get past Garcia, something is wrong
Spence talks about coming back from his car wreck to be more focused and dedicated than he ever has.
Following his final press conference before he squares off with Danny Garcia this weekend, unified welterweight titleholder Errol Spence Jr. sat down with Marcos Villegas of Fight Hub TV to talk about how far he’s come on his road to recovery and his expectations for the fight. Spence on his return to action:
“I think for myself, fighting someone like Danny Garcia — I get past him and I feel like it leads me back to where I want to be. I feel like if I can’t get past [Danny Garcia] then something’s wrong. So I just feel like I gotta be 100% focused and on point to get past him.”
On how he plans to approach this fight against Garcia:
“I’m just going to do whatever it takes to win. You know, if I got to bang on the inside for a little bit to get that respect then that’s what I have to do. So, for me, it’s whatever it takes to get the victory, that’s what I’m going to do. So I don’t have no pre-loaded thing of what I’m going to do in my head...I’m going to feel him out in the first round and then I’m going to adjust by the later rounds.”
