Israel Adesanya fires back at Tyron Woodley, telling the former UFC welterweight champ to sit down and know his place.

Earlier this week, former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley revealed his plans to move up to middleweight after cleaning out the welterweight division, teasing of a superfight with undefeated UFC middleweight champ Israel Adesanya.

‘T-Wood’ believes he matches up well with Adesanya due to the Nigerian’s fear of ‘guys with power’, citing Adesanya’s lackluster performance against Cuban powerhouse Yoel Romero at UFC 248, which saw Adesanya land just 48 strikes after 25 minutes of action.

“I’ve seen some exposure in the Yoel Romero fight, he’s scared of guys with power,” Woodley said. “One thing that Yoel and I have in common — not the same — is power, explosiveness. It didn’t seem like he was trying to deal with that at all.”

It didn’t take long for Adesanya to issue a response, highlighting Woodley’s thrashing at the hands of fellow Nigerian Kamaru Usman at UFC 235 while urging ‘The Chosen One’ to ‘sit down’ and stay in his lane.

“Lol see me see trouble...whala just dey find me anyhow. @TWooodley can’t even deal with one Nigerian Nightmare @USMAN84kg when he was at 30%. Oboy sit down before I lash your nyash well well,” Adesanya fired back on Twitter.

Woodley, who hasn’t fought since he lost the welterweight title to Usman, was supposed to fight Leon Edwards at UFC London but the bout was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The UFC veteran has since offered to fight on the proposed May 9 card, hinting of a grudge match with Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington.
