Ryutaro Nakagaki set for the pros! Press conference on Wednesday!

0 8
On Tuesday former Japanese amateur stand out Ryutaro Nakagaki [中垣 龍汰朗] announced that a press conference regarding his professional debut would take place on Wednesday, with it being available live on his Instagram.

As an amateur fighter Nakagaki was a star on the Japanese high school fight scene, winning numerous Japanese high school titles as well as having notable international success. In 2015 he won the Asian Junior Championships in Tashkent, beating highly regarded Filipino fighter Christian Pitt Laurente along the way. Nakagaki would also take gold at the 2017 Asian Youth Championships in Thailand, and take a bronze medal a year later, at the World University Championships in Russia.

As well as his successes in tournaments Nakagaki also won a number of notable other honours. In 2015 he was the one of the Newcomers of the Year for Japanese amateur boxing and he picked up another similar honour in 2017, being a joint winner of the Fight Spirit award for the amateurs, along with Daisuke Narimatsu.

The press conference is going to be pretty interesting and given his ability and amateur pedigree we're really looking forward to his debut and his coming career in the professional ranks. His credentials suggest he could be fast tracked, and with the right gym behind him it'll be very, very exciting to see him make his mark on the professional scene.
